The Bijou Theatre is one of the crown jewels of downtown Knoxville’s entertainment venues. The theater, originally opened in 1909, has been lovingly restored to its original glory. The theater has a seating capacity of 700 and hosts a variety of live entertainment events throughout the year including comedy, dance, concerts, film events, and more. The theater was originally on the vaudeville circuit in the early 20th century and hosted performances from entertainers such as The Marx Brothers. In 2015 and 2016, the theatre has hosted comedy performances from artists such as Eugene Mirman, Kathleen Madigan, and Ralphie May, in addition to a variety show fundraiser for local non-profit media that included local comedy and musical performances.
