NSFW – Roast of the Host

NSFW Open Mic at Mecca Lounge in Johnson City

The Mecca Lounge is a home for Johnson City comedy, hosting NSFW Open Mic, a bi-weekly comedy open mic. Every other Thursday host Jessica Lane welcomes comics from the Tri-Cities and beyond to the stage for an evening of beer, laughter, and oddball fun. Join the fun for a great free show.

Celebrating one year with Jessica Lane as the lovely host of the NSFW (y’know, the time when the NSFW got good) and the grande finale of the NSFW Open Mic Comedy, what better way to do it than to give that sassy, swilly bar-wench the proper roasting she deserves! Its all with love and in good fun, of course. Complete with a panel of excellent performers from the surrounding areas who are all too eager to take much deserved jabs at the brat of Tri-Cities comedy! As the very LAST NSFW show, we promise to give it our all and send off this amazing fun show with the party it deserves!

Next Door Comedy Night

Next Door Comedy 2nd Anniversary ShowIt’s the two-year anniversary for Next Door Comedy Night, and they’re celebrating with a super-sized show.

As with other editions of the Next Door Comedy Night, this one is a comedy show for a cause with proceeds from this month’s show benefitting Bread Homeless Service, a local youth ministry.

In addition to open mic comedy fun,chedule to perform at this month’s celebratory show are: Hunter Roberts, Sam Rucker, Cory Jeter, David Habel, Cliff Andrews, Leah Garth, Jessica Lane, Matt Keilman, and Art Sturtevant.

Admission is $5.

Robert Kelly

Robert KellyRobert Kelly from FX’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll performs an evening of stand-up comedy at Kingsport’s Renaissance Center.

Tickets are available from ETN Comedy. Doors for the show open at 7 pm, with a musical performance from the Crystal Shipley Trio before Robert’s set. The ETN Comedy website also includes information about pre-show events and an after party and meet and greet.

About Robert:

Robert Kelly, a Boston native now living in New York, has been performing stand-up comedy for more than 10 years. Regular listeners of the Opie and Anthony radio show will know Robert as a frequent guest on the show. Robert currently performs as the character BamBam on FX television’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. He has also appeared in the recurring role of Bobby on Louis CK’s Louie. He is also the host of his own weekly podcast, You Know What Dude?, on the RiotCast network.

It’s the launch of Sugar High! at the new home of Sugar Mama’s, a bakery/craft beer bar that serves sweet and savory treats along with delicious brews. And, on the fourth Thursday of each month, comedy will be on the menu, too. This month’s show is hosted by Sean Simoneau with performances from the other Rain/Shine team of comics: Matt Chadourne, Shane Rhyne, and Tyler Sonnichsen.

It’s an open mic for various types of performing arts including comedy, spoken word and poetry, music and singing, and more. This weekly open mic also offers prizes to the night’s top performers as voted on by the audience.

Sunday, May 1: Upstairs Underground Comedy (open mic)
Preservation Pub. 8 pm. No cover before 8 pm. 21+.
