Welcome to another weekly edition of the Scruffy City Live Comedy Guide in East Tennessee. It’s packed full of information to help you find live comedy events across the 423 and 865 area code regions of East Tennessee from this weekend to next weekend.

This is our biggest weekly guide yet! You’ll find more than 30 live comedy events in eight different cities over the next 10 days. This week’s list of live comedy in East Tennessee has everything from St. Patrick’s Day fun tonight to vaudeville comedy shows, live comedy theater, touring comedians, improv, film riffing, and comedy fundraisers for good causes. You can see national tours of the Upright Citizens Brigade and the Harlem Globetrotters. Take part in audience voting at the World Series of Comedy local qualifying rounds. Regional comedians compete for a chance to advance to the World Series of Comedy national championships and you have a vote.

Friday, March 25: Matt Mitchell (stand-up)
The Comedy Catch. Two shows: 7:30 pm and 9:45 pm. $15. 18+

Known to fans of the Rick and Bubba radio show as “The Casio Kid,” Matt Mitchell brings his blend of southern comedy to the Comedy Catch stage in downtown Chattanooga. Comedian DJ Lewis will also perform.

Friday, March 25: Royal Comedy Tour (stand-up)
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium. 8 pm. $44-$77. 18+

The Royal Comedy tour enters its fifth year of touring the nation. This year’s headliner is comedy queen Sommore, along with performances from Earthquake, Gary Owen, Arnez J, and Special K.

The clown princes of basketball bring their unique blend of comedy and basketball expertise to Freedom Hall as part of the Harlem Globetrotters‘ 90th anniversary world tour. The Washington Generals will probably be there, too.

Jessica Lane is your host for Johnson City’s bi-weekly open mic comedy show. Come on out and laugh.

Long-form improv is the name of the game for Full Disclosure, performing twice a month at the Open Chord in west Knoxville.

Caleb Synan had one of the top five late night comedy debuts of 2015, according to comedy website The Laugh Button. He’ll be performing a free show at Scruffy City Hall, with additional performances from Knoxville’s Jeff Blank and Tyler Sonnichsen.

Knoxville’s long-form improv troupe Full Disclosure begins a new series of performances at the Arts and Culture Alliance’s headquarters at the Emporium Center on the 100 block of Gay Street. The troupe will perform on alternating First Fridays beginning in March.

It’s a live radio telethon to raise funds for the Knoxville History Project, the Knoxville Mercury, and WDVX-FM. The Knoxtacular features a variety of local musicians, comics, spoken word performers, and more throughout the day performing live in the historic Bijou Theatre and on the air on WDVX-FM. Scheduled comedy performers include Victor Agreda, Jr. as one of the show’s emcees, along with stand-up performances from Matt Chadourne and Shane Rhyne.

In a short time the guide has become a popular feature here on ScruffyCityComedy.com. It has already proven helpful to comedy fans in search of live comedy shows in Knoxville. But, we know there are a lot of great events and shows taking place all across East Tennessee in the Tri-Cities, in Chattanooga, in Crossville, in the Smokies, and all points in between. So, whether you’re looking for a chance to laugh out loud in the 865 area code or the 423 area code, the Scruffy City Comedy guide to live comedy in East Tennessee is going to be a valuable resource for you.

And, you’ll see we’re expanding the type of events included in the calendar, because we know that different types of comedy make the world go ’round.
