Tommy Blaze banner

Comedy at the Grove welcomes Tommy Blaze to the Oak Ridge stage. Joining Tommy will be East Tennessee’s own Grady Ray. The show will be hosted by Scruffy City comedian Liz Brooks.

You must be 18 to enter and 21 to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.

Headliner:
Tommy Blaze

Tommy Blaze has been called America’s premiere relationship comic. For over two decades, he has entertained audiences from all walks of life. Blaze has performed in such diverse arenas as television, film, comedy clubs, colleges, military bases, casinos, cruise ships and churches. Tommy sums up his broad appeal with a simple statement, “Wherever you find men and women together, that’s where I’m needed.”
Despite social trends that have some sociologists, politicians and religious leaders worried, it takes the likes of Tommy Blaze to remind us that the things that bring the sexes together can be very funny indeed. – The Reporter
You watch his (Tommy Blaze’s) show and something in your subconscious finally clicks…may miss it due to the laughter.
– Cleveland Plain Dealer
A funny Dr. Phil and probably more accurate.
– New York Times
Tommy Blaze’s Movie and Screenwriting Career:
Tommy has appeared in numerous motion pictures and television shows including the NBC mega-hit Friends and the movies Rumpelstiltskin, Me Again and Marriage Retreat.
He continues to write films as well. Most recently he completed Brother White for the GMC (Gospel Music Chanel) The Upper Room and Dancer and The Dame for PureFlix Entertainment.
Tommy Blaze’s new CD Twice Bitten:
Blaze discovered the source of wisdom and comic inspiration for his new CD Twice Bitten in a most unlikely place; The Holy Bible. Says Blaze, “The Bible is the best self help book ever written and comes with a triple your money back guarantee, but only if you read it.” Twice Bitten is neither sacrilegious nor sanctimonious, but rather an honest and hysterical depiction of why marriages and couples are in a present state of disarray.
Blaze is working on several other projects in addition to his stand-up. One Question For God is his new book that poses a simple scenario; if you could ask God one question, what would you ask? To date, Blaze has collected thousands of questions from across the globe.
Additionally, Blaze writes the net-based comic strip Knocking on Heaven’s Door, (www.KOHD.org) which follows the misadventures of a six-year-old boy and his very, special best friend.

Features:
Grady Ray

Grady Ray has performed all over the Midwest and Eastern United States. He also recently was invited to perform at the Cape Fear Comedy Festival. Along with stand-up comedy, Grady has had his comedy sketches featured on WMPC radio in Newport, Tennessee. Grady Ray is a lover, not a fighter, a comedian and a character straight out of a book you would find on the shelf of a moonshiner in the Smokies.

Host:
Liz Brooks

By way of Knoxville, Tennessee comes comedian Liz Brooks with a nerdy and irreverent style of comedy. She’s shared the stage with comedians like Shane Mauss, Jen Snyder, and Tim Northern. Liz is part story-teller, part fact-lister, and all liar.

Tickets will be $10.00 per person and you must be 18 to enter. Birdwell Catering is also returning to suit your refreshment needs. You must be 21 to purchase and consume alcohol. Join us for a fun filled night full of laughs!

Comedy at the Grove: Trae Crowder & Drew Morgan

Liberal Redneck performs at Oak Ridge's Grove Theatre 5/28/16

Comedy at the Grove is back with Knoxville’s favorite headliners- ONE NIGHT ONLY on Saturday, May 28th at 8:00 PM viral sensation Trae Crowder the “Liberal Redneck” will perform, along with Drew Whitney Morgan in from NYC, special guest Waylon Whiskey and Knoxville’s Nate Cate. DO NOT miss out on a great night of laughs! You must be 18 to enter and 21 to purchase and consume alcohol. Beverages will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission.

Trae Crowder
Trae Crowder is a Liberal Redneck originally from the small backcountry town of Celina, TN. He likes to think of his material as being southern-fried intellectual humor. So basically he says a lot of big words in a funny sounding accent and sometimes people like that.

Trae has performed all over the country and has participated in multiple comedy festivals. He was a principle cast member in a pilot produced for CMT by the Impractical Jokers, and he is currently a member of NBCUniversal’s Talent Infusion Program as both a comedian and a writer.

Drew Morgan
Drew Morgan is a stand-up comedian based in New York City who has been featured as part of the Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival, Cape Fear Comedy Festival, and The Laughing Devil Comedy Festival where he was a semi-finalist. He was the Fall 2015 winner of the StandUp ShowDown at the Pit.

Hailing from rural East Tennessee, Drew is the quintessential son of a preacher man. He draws on his experiences as a small town kid who has lived in Africa, Australia, Miami, Boston, and New York City, weaving together intense stories with cutting observations on culture, religion, and identity. He has been a backpacker, a public defender, a husband, a wonderer and comedian, all in all remaining a confused southerner experiencing this thing we call existence.

Described as having the “alpha certainty of a football coach, (and) the fulminating zeal of a charismatic preacher,” his style is decidedly southern, extremely smart, and charmingly sarcastic.

Special Guest:
Waylon Whiskey

Host:
Nate Cate
