Leanne Morgan

Leanne Morgan performs in Knoxville on May 7 at the Bijou Theatre.Knoxville’s historic Bijou Theatre welcomes East Tennessee’s own Leanne Morgan to the stage for a Mother’s Day weekend show.

Leanne Morgan grew up in rural Appalachia and attended the University of Tennessee here in Knoxville. Her southern charm and storytelling talents have led her to a successful comedy career performing at comedy clubs, performing arts centers, and theaters across the country. Her homespun sensibility and sense of humor have earned her spots as a guest advice panelist on Dr. Phil’s television program as well as live and televised performances with cooking star Paula Deen. Leanne has also appeared on The View and was a finalist for Nick at Nite’s Funniest Mom in America.

Leanne is heard daily on Sirius/XM and has her own show on Blue Collar Radio called Chewing the Fat.

The Bijou Theatre is one of Knoxville’s crown jewels for downtown entertainment venues. Originally built in 1815 as a tavern and hotel, the Bijou has been a Civil War hospital, an X-rated theater, and a vaudeville stage. In its vaudeville days, the Bijou hosted performances by The Marx Brothers, Houdini, and even John Philip Sousa. Sean Larkins, aka Big SeanThe Clean and Classy Comedy Tour returns to Chattanooga with a new slate of BET comedians. Chattanooga’s own Tresha Rutledge is your host for the evening. Performers include Sean “Big Sean” Larkins (P’Diddy’s Bad Boyz of Comedy) and Birmingham’s Gordon Quinney.

Head Over Heels, a gospel stage comedy, performs at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium on March 17.

The national touring production of Head Over Heels, a gospel comedy musical starring Grammy-nominated R&B singer Kenny Lattimore, HBO comedian Tony Tone, jazz legend Theresa Hightower, and more, comes to the Knoxville stage at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium on March 17, 2016.

The romantic comedy also stars Tamika Scott from the multi-platinum group Xscape and Broadway actress Jennifer Nesbitt.
