Eugene Mirman, one of the most inventive and distinctive voices in comedy today is coming to Knoxville’s historic Bijou Theatre!
Mirman is a comedian, actor and hero who lives in Brooklyn, NY. He voices ‘Gene’ on Fox’s Emmy Award winning animated series Bob’s Burgers. He was on Flight of the Conchords, Adult Swim’s Delocated, and has had two comedy specials on Comedy Central. His latest comedy special is available on Netflix. He is a frequent co-host of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s science show StarTalk. His fifth comedy album, I’m Sorry (You’re Welcome), on Sub Pop Records, is available in multiple formats as a 9-Volume Digital Set, 7 LPs, a Chair, a Robe.
Robyn Hitchcock is one of England’s most enduring contemporary singer/songwriters and live performers. A surrealist poet, talented guitarist, cult artist and musician’s musician, Hitchcock is among alternative rock’s father figures and is the closest thing the genre has to a Bob Dylan (not coincidentally his biggest musical inspiration).
The Bijou Theatre is one of Knoxville’s crown jewels for downtown entertainment venues. Originally built in 1815 as a tavern and hotel, the Bijou has been a Civil War hospital, an X-rated theater, and a vaudeville stage. In its vaudeville days, the Bijou hosted performances by The Marx Brothers, Houdini, and even John Philip Sousa. Tickets for Bijou Theatre shows are available via the Tennessee Theater box office on Clinch Avenue or on through the Bijou’s website.
The Bijou has bar service and is a non-smoking facility.
