Blue Umbrella Walking Tour – Knoxville Music
April 2, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDTFree
It’s time for another Blue Umbrella Walking Tour of downtown Knoxville! This tour’s theme focuses on Knoxville’s musical “history.” This may or may not have something to do with a certain big-earred musical festival taking place downtown, too.
The Blue Umbrella Tours are an off-shoot of the QED Comedy Laboratory, in which local comedians guide you on a walking tour of downtown Knoxville filled with interesting, though unlikely to be true, facts. Some real facts may sneak in from time to time, so you have to pay attention and figure it out for yourself.
This tour’s theme explores the important role music has played in Knoxville’s history? Will there be discussions of actual musical greats and moments from Knoxville history such as Dolly Parton, the Everly Brothers, Chet Atkins, Grace Moore, Rachmaninoff, and more? Maybe. But, to be fair, it’s also likely your guide will have something equally interesting, though more fact-challenged, to tell you, too.
The tour is absolutely free to attend (although donations are always accepted). Meet on Market Square at 6 pm. Just look for the group with the blue umbrella.
Matt Chadourne is our lead tour guide and host. Additional participants TBA.
